Anyone attend shows anymore???

I normally just stir shit up on this site here and there. But recently I've just been sitting back and reading. However, it just feels like nobody from here really goes to too many shows anymore, or at least doesn't post about it.

Lately it seems like VCW and CTWE are the only promotions that people talk about on a regular basis. There have been sporadic reports from shows here and there, but nothing regular. What happened?

Back in the day people were always posting about PWF, Chaotic, NECW, Top Rope, Big Time etc etc. What gives? This will probably just get shoved down the board and be gone in a day or so, but I just figured I'd toss this out there.

Going to the VCW taping in Everett on Saturday, if there is nothing important I have to do on the upcoming Sunday/Monday morning I want really badly to go to New York City for the ROH 10th Anniversary Show. In a couple weeks, the UFO show on St. Patty's Day, March 17th. On top of that, Friday nights are tough on my schedule but at the last minute I'll decide if I can make either or both the VCW show on the 16th and NECW's show in Blackstone on the 24th. Then March 30th starts WrestleMania weekend in Miami for me.

Plenty of people attend shows. What Superman is seeing is that the Hammer more fucktards who would rather flamebait and troll than go to shows.

I generally go to shows in the Boston area, time and travel allowing. I regularly see Foley and LuchaBen at shows. In fairness to my fellow forumites, there are probably more of us who go to shows than who post about them because few people are willing to deal with the fucktard demographic adding nothing while posting more than anyone else.

I go to most shows in my area, which these days means mostly CTWE with an occasional NEW or BTW thrown in. I do find that I'm not as willing to travel long distances for shows as I once was. I used to go to shows in Long Island, NYC and Philly regularly, with occasional forays up to MA for ROH. Of course, there's not that much TO go see in Philly these days anyway - though I am planning to hit Shane Douglas's ECW reunion in April.

I think the reason why promotions don't post on here anymore is because nothing positive is EVER said about events. Like JSG has been saying, how many people REALLY go to shows from TBH. If a company can promote other ways and get real fans in the door without the drama of TBH I can see their reasoning....

Real fans don't post on here anymore because of that. I know I don't really post anymore for that reason. Just not worth it.

To say nothing positive is ever said about events is a real stretch. Most shows have positive and negative aspects and what is viewed as positive/negative may vary among fans. Dom and myself for example, hardly ever have the same opinion. Not to mention, who can't use a few more fans in the seats? Maybe you put a couple more people in the seats if you post on the hammer, who knows? If you are filling your buildings up, I guess you wouldn't need to promote on the burning hammer though. Can it actually hurt? I think people are big enough to avoid the obvious trolls, or should be.

I think you're taking my post too literal. Yourself, and maybe 3-5 others actually attend events and do you thing. I'm talking about all of the fake names with people in the wrestling business behind them. So those are the negative posts I was aiming towards. Not you, or Ghost or JD and a few others.

Generally all the events get posted here are by one of you that I named already. So you're going to see it anyways on here or Facebook or Twitter.

Like many forums, the read:post balance here heavily favours "read". Plenty of people are reading the Hammer, which implies that they are interested in wrestling.

Carl has a good point in wondering how may promoters avoid using the Hammer because they assume that it will generate more bad publicity than it is worth.

what bad publicity? random obvious troublemakers responding that something is crappy isnt publicity, its commentary. i have yet to hear someone say "gee im not going to that show because some guy on the internet i dont know who hates everything said he didnt like it". do promoters really think that little of fans that we cant even make a discerning choice for ourselves?

i think plenty of folks around here go to shows. when i hit the ROH show on Sunday itll be the 9th show ive been to this year,and im always with other people who post on this site.

like was said in another thread recently,it cant hurt to post your companies show on here. that said i see how little effort is put into advertising by many companies. i often bitch about companies like Top Rope,BTW and NEFW not updating their websites for months at a time. i also make note of the wrestlers who frequent this board and do nothing to make known shows they are booked for but arent listed on this site. the posters on this board are the least of the problems when the promoters and wrestlers seem to only give half a shit themselves.

you can add the promotions doing a shitty job posting results as well. i dont have enough fingers to count all the groups that hype their shows up for weeks on here and the date comes and goes and if the results are posted at all its by someone attending the show not the company related person who was hyping it up beforehand.

When people make the claim that posters from this board don't make it to shows, it's flat out not true. I've talked to several members of this board at all kinds of shows I've gone to. Not to single one promotion out, but I call on PWF. They have a radio show every week (can be streamed live on bsrlive.com, it's also in the archive @ http://tinyurl.com/6qdo5pv) and they are always sure to say they don't post here yet it's a regular theme of their show every week, they sure read here. I didn't want to single any one promotion out but they come to mind. They recently in a podcast essentially addressed that the fans who show up are going to show up anyway, said the board fans aren't coming to their shows, it's not going to make a difference, and basically implied that it'd be too much of a headache and not worth it. All of the members of the podcast already read the board, why not promote on it? Just my 2 cents.

I wish results were sometimes made more available. I can at least see the flip side to this argument. Results made so accessible might deter people from going to the live show. I am always amazed, at I believe it's CTWE, that they even put their entire show on Youtube after the fact. If I was on the fence about your show, but I knew I could watch the matches I wanted to see a week later on Youtube, I probably wouldn't go to your show live.

I am always amazed, at I believe it's CTWE, that they even put their entire show on Youtube after the fact. If I was on the fence about your show, but I knew I could watch the matches I wanted to see a week later on Youtube, I probably wouldn't go to your show live.

i have to disagree with this, indy wrestling on video is never as exciting as in person. if im on the fence about seeing them but see any interesting match up with guys i might not be that familiar with its probably more likely ill check it out live (assuming i like it).

also i think CTWE probably does the best job utilizing the board to their advantage. they obviously dont take themselves too seriously, dont feed into negative attention and dont have the "better than you" attitude towards fans, and legitimately seem like fans themselves. i think thats helped them build a pretty positive and supportive base in a short amount of time
