didnt take long to derail this one. i havent seen much hate for Ant Battle.Zombie i think has been over exposed since he's been around so long and most of his hardcore "battles" arent very good. Busta if youve heard him talk acts like an overbearing know it all masseuse and JVS probably wouldnt be on the radar if it wasnt for that pic with the heil hitler salute from a few years ago.

I certainly don't dislike Zombie or J-Busta. J ust the opposite in fact; I enjoy their matches. Got nothing against Ant Battle either, he's a big man working a big man gimmick, no problem w/me.

I enjoy some people's work more than others, and yeah there a few I don't enjoy watching, but so what? They're all doing something I can't do.

If you're talking dislike on a personal level, I got nothin'. No beefs w/anybody and no reason to have any, since I'm just a fan. (And semi-retired web colunmist.)

the only guys that come to mind for me are bull dredd, and vinny marseglia. or however u spell his last name. dredd has just never given me any reason to get behind him, ring work or gimmick. vinny is just such a blatant hardy boy wannabe.

In actuality, people who annoy me usually fall into one of the following categories:

-Their gimmick is a total and complete imitation of someone more famous, and a poorly executed imitation at that.
-They promote shows so that they can feature themselves in marquee matches, with names (regardless of cost).
-They wrestle for years, and show minimal (or zero) improvement as time goes by.
-They sell tickets to their friends and families to gain bookings, and call themselves draws.
-They call themselves a "veteran" despite never actually leaving the region or working regularly in years.
-They constantly complain on social media about "tha bisness", to friends family and fans.
-They spam promoters' walls on Facebook in an attempt to get booked.
-They've actually posted the sentence "I'll be there if I'm booked" on an event page. Douche-chills for days.
-They get angry about not being taken seriously, despite not training between shows, tanning, or going to the gym.
-They get their friends bookings on shows, regardless of how they look or work, because they want to hang out.
-They've "gone to war" with another indie promotion, and it hasn't been an angle. Darwinism at work.
-They try to control where someone else works on nights that don't effect their own bookings or shows.
-They cut pay or don't pay their crew because a show doesn't draw well. As a promoter, own responsibility when you fail.
-They stiff workers or crew at the end of the night, regardless of the draw, because they think they can get away with it.
-They spend more time insulting others than they do attempting to improve themselves.

If there's a chance you fall into one of these categories, we're probably not friends.

I can blame them because it's a douchy comment to make. Chances are one of the people involved wanted to get the word out by inviting their entire friends list, instead of (like you put it) purposely asking workers to drive long distances as a fan to attend the show. I get invited to shows hundred of miles away on Facebook all the time, all I do is ignore them.

I'll actually give an example for this one, though.

A few months back, a guy in a Mil Mascaras replica mask and ICP gear who called himself Monster Mack (triple-threat of gimmick infringement) randomly posted a Youtube link to one of his matches on a promoter's wall on Facebook. A promoter who's never met this guy, let alone contacted him. Surely enough, the promoter shot him down, many laughs where had, and Mr. Originality deleted his post the next day. THAT is the kind of "worker" I don't like.

At least Chase is using a gimmick that will get over with the youth demographic as a babyface, or with the male 18-49 demographic as a heel. Nobody doesn't know who Justin Bieber is. I had to google "Howard Wolowitz" to know who the hell you were talking about because I don't watch Big Bang Theory. While it may have its niche television demographic, it is nowhere near as widely known as Bieber. That would be like a female looking like Lady Gaga but basing a gimmick on an Aeon Flux side character.

You pretty much nailed it. I'm just emulating bieber and am a superfan.

At least you "get it" even if you don't like it...but to be honest, I've been quite taken back by the reaction I've been getting at CTWE shows. Which is the ideal crowd for this type of gimmick, trust me...I've used it at FSW...there's a reason I didn't get booked again...

The gimmick works with larger crowds...There's usually enough kids to enjoy it, and in all actuality I found a lot of older males appreciate it when I get the chance to incorporate some of the comedy, such as the "baby" headlock.

With smaller crowds, there's usually not enough diversity to get a good reaction as a face...so heel is the way to go there.

A perfect example of how this gimmick came to be my permanent one, was when we (joey and I) worked the first (and only to date) Extremely Talented Wrestling show, We were booked as heels, but it was really hard to do since the crowd laughed their asses off at us...and we even had a biker dude throw up the hand-heart.

That was also not a family focused show, so, we were able to incorporate a little homosexuality, which for some reason always gets over.

ANNYYYWAY....more importantly...it was fun as hell to do. I'm having more fun with this ridiculous gimmick, than I had being just plain old Mikey Chase. I like the way the fans throw up the hand heart and everything...makes me feel as cool as Lukas Sharp

I know a lot of people don't get it, or like it, but I can't expect to please everyone. Most people are supportive of it and at the end of the day, I'm having a blast doing it. So ultimately...whether you hate bieber so you hate me, or whatever your opinion is, as long as you keep coming to shows (especially CTWE) I'll be happy...

On a side note, I think a better thread would be "indy workers you are really into and why"...send out some positivity and love instead of negativity and hate.

Also...on the note of guys I'm really into...if you haven't seen Dalton Castle yet...make sure you come down to CTWE and check him out. This guy is a star. I can't wait to see his contributions to an already great company.
